Alisha McCullough

Background

Alisha's nursing career spans pediatric critical care and labor and delivery. Her interest in maternal and child health led her to a midwifery internship at a freestanding birth center in the Philippines. There, she helped provide respectful, evidence-based care to women and families with limited resources. That experience, along with the racial disparities in maternal illness and infant deaths in the U.S., set her on the path to midwifery.

Alisha earned a doctorate in nursing practice in midwifery from Baylor University. She has worked as a certified nurse-midwife for four years, caring for families in both hospital and out-of-hospital birth settings. She wants every family to have strong childbirth education and a birth experience where they feel in control.

That goal led Alisha to create Prepare Me, Baby. She also teaches nursing students as a clinical instructor. She is married and a mom of two, ages 7 and 1.
